Sadly, the butternut squash did not survive the first frost the other week and it had to be pulled. I’m slightly envious as the plot next to me has an abundant crop ready to harvest. Lesson learnt- never transplant squash and don’t overcrowd. It probably needed an early start too and most likely a hole of manure when first planted.
My 2014 growing season is now over, I dug over the soil this afternoon ready for the manure to breakdown over the winter.
