Plot 51 in July

Plot 51 is looking a little scraggy. It hasn’t been a full crop but the spring onion, radish and beetroot have done fairly well. Sadly, mangetout and peas were all eaten or failed because of lack of watering as soon as the weather turned hot.

The thyme has done well and surprisingly the dill as well as a few carrots are coming through.

The turnips sprouted well but it grew to look like a big rough old parsnip rather than a smooth little turnip.

The raspberries were out of control and not producing so I made the decision to cut down and will replace with a redcurrants bush next month.

The tomato plant is blooming and I’ve planted out a few butternut squash plants.

Next job is to dig soil, add compost and add oriental greens for the autumn.
